AT vertEX

As a seasoned data professional, most projects at Vertex are fronted by me. With over 15 years experience in Data Warehousing, Data Migrations and Report Writing, I've produced some great solutions for a wide range of clients. My main technical skills are in writing SQL, managing databases and producing attractive reports using a variety of tools including Power BI, SSRS, Tableau and Business Objects.

While I've put my skills to good use in a number of industries, I've found a real niche in Adults' and Children's Social Care and have worked with over 25 authorities to improve data and reporting.

I'm also here to assist the rest of the Vertex team with their projects!

AT HOME

  • Loves playing (but is generally terrible at) most sports

  • Enjoys the occasional holiday with his wife, Lisa-Maria

  • Enthusiastic consumer of food (often found browsing the fridge for scraps)

Norfolk County Council

July 2017 – July 2019

Following a successful project in 2016-17, Oldham asked me to return to support the production of a new suite of reports, covering 400 different Monthly Measures compiled into one report. I produced a complex SQL script which loops around 400 pieces of code, feeding in different months, to provide values for each month and each measure. As well as this, I supervised the production of a new Data Warehouse sourcing from Mosaic and a number of other systems.

I worked with Durham to quickly install a number of critical reports from the bank of code I’ve developed using LiquidLogic in the past. Working in Children’s Social Care, I was able to implement 20 key dashboards with drillthroughs to analyse the data, before moving on to a scorecard of 100 measures to accurately measure performance. I’ve also trained a number of local staff in the use of SQL Server and LiquidLogic to ensure that their custom builds can be maintained in-house.

I worked with Norfolk County Council to develop a full suite of Adults’, Children’s and Finance reports using LiquidLogic’s LAS, LCS and ContrOCC, following the council’s switch from CareFirst. The requirements gathering phase identified around 100 key reports to produce, plus dynamic dashboards and drill downs. I used SSRS 2016, including Mobile and Paginated Reports, to fulfil these requirements, which stretched through Demand, Productivity and many other themes.
